Yidan (Angel) Sun is a violinist who has studied in San Jose and Los Angeles. She graduated graduated from UCLA with Violin Performance, Music Education majors, and Music Industry Minor in 2023, and she was recognized with the Magna Cum Laude in reward of her distinctive academic performance.

Yidan's musical journey started at age 4 when she first heard the sound of a piano. She began to take piano lessons since then. After her six year of piano-learning experience, she has decided with her family to switch to violin. She continued through middle school as a violinist, and actively participated in local youth symphony orchestras in Qingdao, China. Yidan participated in a variety of ensembles in high school, including the chamber string ensemble, string orchestra, and thee symphony band, under the direction of Dr. and Mrs. Homer. She remained as a member of chamber string ensemble, the most competitive early music ensemble in Valley Christian High School, for all four years in her high school career. She also received scholarship for winning the Scholarship Competition designed for musically talented musicians four years in a row.

Not only had Yidan being an active musician in high school, but she had also developed her interest in music education through the school's music outreaching program. She immediately fell in love with interacting with young children from the collaborated elementary schools in her junior year in high school. Since her first visit to the elementary schools, she has decided that teaching music is something worth pursuing in the future. She spent two years participating in the program, and had developed a strong connection with the students she had.

Yidan's extensive musical backgrounds and her performing ability has earned her the offer from UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music in the year of 2019. While initially admitted as a Music Performance major, she had never gave up the thought of pursuing music education in college. In her sophomore year, she chose to join the music education major because of her passion for teaching. She is passionate about performing and teaching music at the same time, as she believe that a good teacher will always have to be a good performer.

The music education program at UCLA has trained Yidan to be a critical thinker and empathetic educator. She was introduced to and practiced a variety of teaching strategies, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Differentiated Instruction (DI), inquiry-based learning, special education, student-centered learning, and so on. Yidan is enjoying the lifestyle as a teacher, and she will dedicate herself as a life-long researcher, learner, and listener to better serve her students.
